It's (Alfa) Romeo & Juliet

Just like the star-crossed lovers who tragically died, I read a story today about a woman who was so obsessed with her L-Reg Ford Mondeo, that she actually changed her surname to Ford.  Unluckily for her, her beloved car was also the cause of her death. Or rather the alcohol she consumed prior to getting in the car was…

One wonders, if Leah ‘Ford’ loved the car so much, why she would ever consider drink driving? But hey, in my opinion anyone who drink-drives has no-one to blame but themselves. Unfortunately this wasn’t so for the driver of the other car, mum-of-two Julia Ann Cannon, 56 who also died in the high-speed crash.

To be honest, I doubt she was ‘all there’ if she decided she would rather have a surname of an American mass produced car manufacturer rather than the name she was given at birth. And all for an L-Reg Mondeo? Really? And come on, it’s not like Ford is a particularly ‘exotic’ name – maybe something like Leah Maserati or Leah Lamborghini would have been better, but then she probably couldn’t have afforded one of them.

And what happened to the L-Reg Mondeo? It probably died of heartache.
